Hi there, I'm looking for a budget AMP and a set of bookshelf speakers to run my iPOD and CD player through, inevitabily I'm lost in the minefield of review sites and # of products available.  So far I have come up with a list:-

Speakers (budget: approx £150)

Monitor Audio Bronze BR1

Tannoy Mercury F1 Custom

Wharfedale DIAMOND 9.1

Amps (budget: approx £200-£250)

ROTEL RA04

NAD C320BEE

DENON PMA700AE

I'm tending to sway towards the Wharfedale and Rotel, but would really appreciate some input and perhaps some other suggestions? The set up will be in a small room.

No problems with the Rotel/Wharfedale set-up whatsoever, Barry. You could also save some more money by considering the new NAD C315BEE amp, which is just £180.

Hi Andrew,

I may indeed go for the new NAD, anything between the Tannoy's and Wharfedales or does it not reallly matter as both are fairly cheap.  Thanks for the help.

 Cheers

Barry

Personally, I'd go for the Tannoys - the Wharfedales are good, but I thought the Tannoys were a little bit special.
