Active speakers for Meridian explorer

Can anyone recommend a pair of active speakers to use with my digital music setup. At present I'm using a 15" MacBook Pro retina with AKG K550's through a Meridian explorer dac. I listen to all kinds of music, but mostly blues and rock. I'd like to keep the cost to under £500 for the speakers inc stands as I'd only be using them occasionally.
