Although he had a good innings I am sad he is gone. Not just a fine musician, he was also a campaigner against racial discrimination.
He has left behind a wonerful legacy.....he'll be missed.

As a long time lurker to this site, and recipent of much great advice on kit to help me better appreciate his music, I felt compelled to post.
I saw him at the Jazz fest in Vancouver in the late 90's and to this day, that remains one of the best concerts I've seen. He is in an elite group of jazz greats.
