10.1 vs 9.1
just compared both.the 9.1 wins for me hands down.they need a powerfull amp to go loud but sound is much more refined I gues. voices are much more natural than on the 10.1
not paying attention to sound..the 9.1 sound MUCH MUCH better refined to me
That is interesting. I had been wondering about an upgrade to the 10.1s but think I'll have to listen very carefully now. I really wouldn't want to lose the refinement of the 9.1s. They are terrific little speakers.
I am glad to hear that I have two new pairs in my loft waiting to be fitted
purchased six months ago just before the 10.1s came out
nice one
to much gear to mention
Having front port is a great asset to put against the wall, the 10's have rear ports and that could effect refinement if pushed against a corner.
Possible havinf something to do with not being run in the 10.1 but at that shop I kno for a fact that the 9.1 weren't having much use. What bopthers me about the 9 range is that I just cant seem to get sound as high as I would like
And why is that I don't have any probs pushing them hard.
there's also a Pioneer A6-j display on mint condition on sale for 250 euros...no box..but 15 day trial period and 2 year warranty...can't make up my mind if I want it.
If you like it try it, it is worth trying at that price.

with a 50 watt stereo amp I just dont think they lack the oomph. even with a 80 watt amp I thought the 9.4 and 9.5 also lacked the oomph
I never heard them hooked to stereo amps, as i only have the Denon, but both for music and especially for movies they have no problem being driven at 0DB, and never really seem to struggle. I listen mostly to rock music and wouldn't push it that hard only because of neighbors.
, and limit the 0 mark for ballads and lower sounding albums.
stereo amp volume button on 12 O'clock doesnt seem to get high enough...for me though
Maybe some electric comp issue. Maybe the amp cannot drive the Spks well, 50w is quite on the limit as they are rated at 30-150W
these speakers have very low sensitivity compared to another brands
Hi
I am surprised at your comments re driving 9.1s? I have CA 540 ver 2 60 per channel i darnt go past 12 clock they are very efficient . i was wondering myself if worth u/g to 10.1s however you need to give at least 100 hours to burn in fantastic litle speakers.
Also it is worth getting good interconmnects they can make world of difference, my Crimson are great.Dont give up on them.mind you the DacMagic does make the world of didfference , used with CA 540c
Cheers

Both are great speakers, but the 9.1's can be had for £100. Is there really a £100 difference in sound between the 2?
Cyrus 8se & Psx-r -> VDH The First Ultimate -> Bel Canto Pre3 -> Nordost Heimdall -> Mono X's -> Atlas Hyper Bi-Wire -> Proac D1's.
