1000£ stereo - what to pick?

I am considering getting a budget stereo. I have owned pretty upscale stuff earlier on, but now I want a budget setup because of a not optimal room and a desire to have less dough put into it.
I have been looking at the Cambridge 650A + DACMAGIC as the electronic duo of the setup, but what speakers are a sensible choice to mate them with?
Are there other good alternatives when it comes to amps and speakers?

Well a bit over budget but I would recommend the AVI ADM9.1s
Pre/Power, DAC and speaker all in one great sounding package.
(May need to budget for stands though.)
