Why headphones are better than speakers.
They work out cheaper than speakers for equivalent performance.
They are smaller and you can have a collection and take them outside with you.
You can listen to your music whilst others around you are doing their own thing.
You get more intimate with the music and closer to the feeling of 'being there'.
You can have headphones and speakers at the same time, allowing you the conveniences of both and for all to live in harmony with love and peace.![]()

Did just that once many years ago. Forgot my amp doesn't cut the signal to the speakers when you plug in headphones - was blissfully unaware until the flatmates starting complaining
Ah, yes, I meant own and possess, not listen to.
Don't agree about the feeling of "being there" - you can't FEEL the bass with headphones ![]()

"C'mon, the ship is sinking!"
"Arctic Monkeys"
"No come on, or you'll drown'
"Yes, amazing bass - new headphone amp I bought in Southampton"
"But the ship is - oh forget it, I'm off while I can. Now where's my women and children disguise...?"

I find live performances, including where a band is playing live in a studio, the detail that a good set of headphones and headamp can dig up gives me the feeling of being there more than a hifi. With hifi you are aware of the stereo effect which you do not get with live music.
As for feeling bass, Denon AH D1001s or the Sennheisers with a bias towards bass, such as the HD202, not to mention the Sonys with BASS BOOST emblazoned on the box, will give you plenty of low end oomph.

I believe the headfier went down with the ship, how brave.
Whats that the ship is sinking, ponders for a moment and then decides to go down with the ship maybe playing smoke on the water. His other choice would involve being stuck on a dingy with all the women talking his ears off, probably shoes related ![]()
So we're saying that headfiers don't like talking to women? Couldn't have made that one up myself...
Lol, we do but the headphones are there to protect our ears ![]()
EDIT: I am more a trainee headfier, I have only had my phones for 3 weeks. A true headfier has multiple sets of phones for all occasions, idc looks to have 4 sets so he must be fully qualified.
i still prefer my speakers! headphones have there place when the noise needs to be kept to a minimum but nothing like rocking out properly and being hit in the chest by those rocking basslines!!!!
LMAO, you must be a scream after a beer Andrew.

Agreed -speakers are more social, but headphones do come in handy when the OH or little'un wants to watch tv.
Ah, and headphones aren't good if the little'un has nits, hence why she uses my old Sennheisers.
