My 2nd post of the day.  I bought some SE 535s to listen to my iPod while on the move, and they're good but not as good as I was expecting.  I've experimented with different earbuds and that doesn't seem to be the issue.

On eBay a number of companies are offering upgrade cables for the SE 535s.  Some of them go up to £180 each.

Does anyone have any experience of these upgrade cables and if so are they worth the cash.  I guess I'm sceptical about their value.......

Many thanks.

Have you used balanced armature earphones before the se535's?
They are quite different to the regular dynamic driver type, often sounding bass light in comparison.

If you google, you'll find lots of info on the se535's and opinions on replacement cables for various ear buds.
