Replacement for Denon AD-H1100
Sorry but don't like the Denon's, too bass heavy for my tastes. I've had them a while now and no, they haven't improved with burning in, neither have I "got used to them" as some people suggested.
The Denon's also don't have enough detail in the mids/treble, I assume because the bass is muddying it? I was considering the AKG K550's but am now a bit confused following some of the reviews I've read, despite the glowing 5 star rating WHF gave them. The alleged lack of bass most likely wouldn't bother me nor the "loose fit" - I have a physically large head and I actually found the Denons a bit tight. What bothers me most is some people claim they've got a pronounced hump around the high mids making them sound harsh in this area. Anyone like to comment?
My other considerations were Sennheiser HD380, Shure SRH840 or Audio Technica ATH M50. There were also some Yamaha ones but I've forgotten the model number at the moment. I think all of these claim to have a fairly flat frequency response but of course there's always somebody that will argue that fact.
Any suggestions, opinions, words of wisdom, etc greatly received. One other thing to note, what probably annoys me the most is excessive sibilance.
