Do any forum members have any recommendations for some closed back headphones? Fortunately can spend up to £600 due to a special birthday coming up.Headphones   will be used via a naim headphone amp as rest of system is naim based. Getting confused with the choice that is out there. As well as performance, they need to be comfortable and not make your ears sweaty after an hour or two of listening. Many thanks.

Recommendation for closed back headphones - budget up to £600

That's a tough price range. I see some Audio-Technica's in that range that look good, but you'll have to check reviews carefully for sound quality issues. You'll probably want open back headphones. The Shure 1840 is excellent from mids on up, but the bass may not satisfy everyone. Extremely well made and exceptionally comfortable. In closed back, I see some Beyers like the T90 or T70, but they are known for treble peaks, and while comfort is good, I don't know about warmth after hours of listening. I've gotten used to taking mine off after one or two symphonic movements to cool my ears off. I recently bought a Audio-Technica for $700 USD that's not as good as another of theirs that costs $200 USD. So price doesn't correlate as well with sound quality as it does with physical quality.

EDIT: Going back over everything I could find, the only closed headphone in the stated price range that I thought offered good all-purpose audiophile sound quality is the hifiman HE500. That model may have some variation.

You could try to get a listen to these three:

Focal Spirit One  (£185.00), Beyerdynamic T70P (£427) and Denon AH-D7100  (£599)

Hey staggerlee, Bit of a

Hey staggerlee,

Bit of a pointless post I guess as it is a shame you can't consider a pair of open backed headphones as I was just about to recommned the HiFi Man HE-500's as they sound amazing and work brilliantly on our Naim Headline, any chance you could consider open backs?

Cheers,
