 Appreciate that the HD598's

Appreciate that the HD598's do look a bit like the inside of a 60's Rover and as such on looks alone will be a no go, (I never could understand why Senn went for that colour scheme). Go with the K702's/DT880's, but if you ever get the chance to pop a pair of HD598's on I'm sure they'll bring a smile to your face. Then again I'm definitely a Senn fan so I guess I would say this   smiley

If your looking for a hp lead extension try ebay for a Grado headphone cable extension, they're about £35 but worth the expense.

To add to what Doug has said,

To add to what Doug has said, the DT880 is a stunning headphone. In fact I prefer it sonically to the more expensive T series from Beyerdynamic having done a test using the 880/990 and T70. Voice in particular is truly excellent and enveloping.

A tad confused

This time yesterday I was leaning to the K702's but after a lot more reading on many other forums I think I am heading towards the DT880 premium and thinking I should look at the 250 version. Then I think there is probably no where near the difference I am reading about and just stick with the akg's.

I have found somewhere that stocks both in the pro audio market and will go and have a look/listen  friday and hoping to come away with something.

Will let you know the outcome, thanks for all the help and advice , I am gratefully muddled.

Let us know how you get on.

Let us know how you get on. The Beyers are a bit oldy-worldy but they are brilliant. And the cushions are rather nice too.

A decision

Hi,

Have opted for the 702's from Amazon, I was getting so muddled and if I had gone to pro audio store I would have only been able to try out of box so not at all run in.

I was reading reviews and looking at K712's ( I didn't want the ridge headband of other models) or 65 anniversary, then thinking the Beyerynamics had a harsher treble but looked so comfortable, then thinking most prefer sennheiser 600 to 650 so should they be reconsidered, maybe save some cash and get the 880 pro's but maybe a bit too grippy and maybe the akg's don't have the bass I want and so on..............................................................so I thought this is mad , am not going to be able to hear any, what I heard wasn't too much difference , get the 702's they are the cheapest option and if I really don't like them send them back, I do like the look of them most.

They will arrive today, my hugo will too, I intend to give them a good going over during the long weekend in the uk and will bear in mind the 702's won't sound their best at first.

Would it be ridiculous to just have music playing through them for a day to loosen them up,  am I losing the plot here....?

Thanks again for all the help and advice, I just had to make a choice as had spent 3 days reading too many reviews and getting confused, maybe I should get the 880's as well, the slippery slope I fear.

Look forward to haering your

Look forward to haering your thoughts. That's part of the fun of headphones, owning several different sets for different presentations.

I generally just listen to my headphones as they burn in, but I have left them playing overnight or through the day while I was away at work so I don't think there's anything wrong with it.

Stuff.
