headphones
I'm being bought some new headphones as a gift ("for being mostly wonderful" apparently). I'm actually trying to talk her out of it, as there are more pressing concerns that require money...
Anyway - the B&W P5s are the cans in question (to be used with an iPod classic (4gen). I have a Fiio e5 too.
I know WHF only gave these 4 stars, but I really liked how they sounded (and looked) when I tried them (and I've always had a thing for B&W).
While I know the star rating is subjective, I would be grateful if your people could point me in the direction of anything else that exceeds the B&W, but costs less.
Was considering the Grado Sr125i, but haven't heard them. I "think" I like how they look, but can't be sure...!
Thoughts?
Agreed go down the Grado path, I swear by mine (saving up for a new pair!)
So long as you can get the same use out of the open backed sound leaking Grados as the closed backed little sound leaking B&W, I too would go for the Grados.
Chokobolt:I think you should talk your wife into buying you the Grado sr80i's. They sound brilliant
I even prefer the sound of my headphones when listening to Diana Krall, even though they only cost about 1/8 of my speakers, but that warm and emotive sound the headphones produce really suits her voice

Realised reading this that I haven't used mine for MONTHS (virtually the whole year maybe!) and had all but forgotten about them. Just popped them on and still.. .WOW.!

Arcam Alpha 7 CD --> Arcam Alpha 6 Amp --> AKG K701/Grado SR80i.
