Headphone Advice
Having recently sold my Beyerdynamic T70p I am looking for advice and suggestions for a new headphone for use at home in my office.

These will predominantly be used with my Laptop and O2/ODAC as well as potentially directly out of my iBasso DX50. I am open to suggestions for closed and open headphones as isolation isn't an issue at the moment.

Musical tastes are varied but pretty much include a lot of female vocals in addition to rock, indie, folk, accoustic and some Jazz.....pretty much anything from the 60's through to present day.

I'm after a good all rounder with a sound signature that produces tight bass, strong midrange and highs that aren't fatiguing.

Besides the T70 I have owned the HD650, AH-D2000, Grado SR80i so not interested in these models.

Any suggestions and advice extremely welcome.

Jason

The B&O H6 in my experience has the quality, neutrality, and even a bass that's good (where some 'neutral' headphones I've had weren't successful), that would mate well with the music you listed. I'm not familiar with good open headphones that I'd like, except the Grado PS500, which is excellent if you can tolerate the upper bass hump or EQ it down. In closed headphones, other than the H6, the Shure 1540 I got last week is recessed in the treble, the B&W P7 has a somewhat loose and boomy bass, and on it goes. So far the H6 has not disappointed.

Beyer T1/T90 Jubilee/DT1350, Sennheiser HD-A280, v-moda M100/XS, Beyer A200p/v-moda Verza/Microstreamer DAC/amps, Portaphile Micro/PA2V2 amps.

Sorry I don't mean to thread c**p but I'm interested to hear you thoughts on the DreamEarz AUD-8x Jason.

How do Mate,

Im loving the AUD-8x......it took a lot of research and consideration before deciding on these especially seeing as they were my first foray into custom IEM's. I also considered the Unique Melody Miracle, Heir Audio 8A and JH13.

The 8x have eight drivers, consisting of a dual ported woofer, dual ported mid and 2 TWFK drivers per side. They utilise a 4 way crossover and have 4 sound bores. They are designed to give an extremely neutral response and I would say they do actually achieve this with excellent clarity and separation.

The 8x is quite a relaxing listen, leaning more towards smoothness and slightly warmed up mids. They have dynamic vibrancy and real bass authority With a very good width and depth to the sound.
My musical tastes are extremely varied and they haven't struggled with anything I have thrown at them yet. Isolation is excellent and the fit is spot on and comfortable as hell.

Beyerdynamic DT990 Premium. I auditioned these against the T70p and preferred them. Found them to be more natural and vocals were delightful.

Highly recommended.

RE: Headphone Advice

Cheers guys,

I've read some excellent reviews on the Sennheiser Momentum and a few people over on Head-Fi have recommended them as a good match with the DX50 so I have managed to get hold of a virtually new pair of over ear Momentums which should arrive early next week.

They seem to be fairly easy to drive and should also work well directly out of my iPhone and iPad.

I'll no doubt post my impressions once I've had a good session with them out of all my devices in addition to via the O2/ODAC I've also got coming.

Hi Jason :),

What's your price limit by the way? I would throw in a recommend for the B&W P7, but I think they might not be tight enough in the bass for what you want right now.
