Check out the latest headphones from Goldring, Shure, Sennheiser, Grado & Philips

We've just tested these new noise-cancelling headphones from Goldring in the October issue of What Hi-Fi? Sound and Vision, out tomorrow, as part of our latest headphones roundup.

Our testers have subjected their ears to a wide variety of in-ear, closed- and opened-back models, so if you're after a pair of noise-cancelling cans for your travels, or just want to upgrade the free in-ear buds with your iPod, we've checked out the latest designs from Goldring, Shure, Sennheiser, Grado, JVC, Audio-Technica and Philips.

Goldring's £150 NS1000 is a noise-cancelling design created for "people who want to enjoy great music or movies wherever they are, and for users who want to find peace and quiet in noisy environments".

They weigh just 183g and have circum-aural ear cushions that sit around the ear and combine with closed-back driver chambers to minimise sound leakage. The 1.8m headphone cable has been designed by hi-fi cable specialist QED.

The noise-reduction technology is powered by a single AAA battery, giving up to 40 hours use. The NS1000s come with a 3.5mm-to-6.3mm jack adapter, in-flight audio plug adapter and a travel case.

Want to know how they sound? Then pick up a new copy of What Hi-Fi? Sound and Vision tomorrow, and turn to page 68.
