Best 'in-ear' for iPod?

Sorry if this has been asked before but I'm speedily gonna ditch the iPod supplied phones and am after some noise cancelling in-ears. I listen to predominantly rock music so like a full' sound' with deep but not boomy bass.

I've tried the Klipsch Image S3 which were 'ok' but, being a Grado SR80i/Audio Technica user at home I'm looking for something a bit classier on my iPod.

I have looked at the Shure SE215, SE315 and up to the 535 which are probably killing it for an iPod price wise. Also checked out the Grado iGi and the GR8 and GR10 but am really not sure which I should go for.

Price anything up to £200.

Any help would be appreciated.

Cheers.

RE: Best 'in-ear' for iPod?

I find the Klipsch Image S4 work very well on an ipod with no EQ used.  They are the fullest sounding earphones and I have used by far.  The bass can be quite heavy at times, but with rock music I find it works very well.

The Shure SE215 earphones are dynamic drivers as well, but I think would likely have a flatter response than the S4 and less bass, but probably still bassy enough.  I'd avoid the SE315 as they are balanced armature type, and from my experience of the SE315, can sound quite thin and bass light (as most BA earphones do), although they will be the most detailed and accurate of the earphones I've mentioned.  Some like them, but personally I don't think they're a good match to rock music.

The Sennheiser IE8 get good reviews are supposed to have quite full, bassy sound (not tried them though).  I'm not sure just how much better they would be than the Image S4 or the SE215 though, if at all, for all the extra money.  I don't like the design of them either - eartip insertion would not be very deep I think, and isolation therefore would not be amazing.  However, they do seem to be very popular and liked earphones so maybe worth a look.

Hope that is of some help.
