Hi all,

Have any of you had problems recording series on the V+ box? Mine doesn't seem to want to do it anymore and crashes everytime I try to do it. Also, it wont let me delete any of the previous series I've got scheduled to record.

Any ideas before I have to deal with Virgin customer services?

Switch if off and on again? You know that's what they're going to suggest first.

Haha! Yeah, I should have said I've reset the box and switched it on and off a few times with no effect.

Hard drive re-format?

Can you do that? If so, how? I am thinking of calling VM myself - my V+ box keeps freezing. I was away last week, and I had set it to record a number of programmes, but it froze the day after I left, and never recorded any of the programmes I wanted. Except Top Gear! And it seems to be running a lot slower than it used to.

Sure can.

Press Home button

Press down play button for 5 secs

Press V+/ TV Drive button

Press Ch - 4 times

and voila!

Bit reluctant to do it though as I'll lose all my recordings.

I'm sure I read somewhere that's it better not to keep many old recordings saved. Perhaps you could try removing older recordings and see if that makes a difference (can't see how it would, but you never know). Perhaps demanding a new box from VM might be the way to go. I would give them a call and explain the problem.

Forgot to say,

Virgin told me to reformat the HDD using the method outlined earlier. This cleared up the problem.

And how does your box operate normally? Does it ever freeze? Will formatting the hard drive help with this too, in your opinion? I don't really want to lose the programmes I've already got, but it might be worth doing it in the long run.
