Sound quality from Virgin V+ box?
Music is more important to me than TV. But my standard Virgin box gives me access to Digital radio which I take from the optical output through my 20 year old Cambridge Dac Magic 2 (I had to go through the setup menu to reduce the bit rate to be compatible). The sound is good but not as good with Radio 3 as my 20 year old Musical Fidelity eleltra FM tuner. My existing box does not have a seperate audio output.
I'm thinking of upgrading to the V+ box.
The virgin website does not mention an analogue output but the WHF reveiw tech details does.
1. Does it have audio phono output?
2. If so how good is it compared to the optical output through a basic DAC?
3. Can the optical output (for home cinema) be used for a standard 2 channel DAC?
4. If so can the bit rate be reduced as wiht my existing box and DAC?
Thanks for any advice.
