I have recently finished some major building work in my house and due mainly to the new layout way thinking of getting a second HD box form Sky and going for their Multi-room service.

So I called up Sky and told them what I wanted to do to which they said that was no problem but there was a £10 a month charge for Multi-room which is fair enough but they then said there was another £10 for the HD subscription. I replied with "but I am allready paying the HD subscription!" to which they said you have to pay this subscription on evey HD box in you house.

How can Sky charge extra for a service that you are allready paying for??? I promptly told them where they could shove the extra-extra £10 and put the phone down!Angry

surely they should charge you for one or the other not both, its things like that, that i no longer subscribe to them, there rip off merchants, and the fact they still dont have any real competition atm seems to make them think they can charge what they like

Makes Me see why there are so many web-sites telling you how to watch Sky without paying!

Now there is Me honest Jo trying to do it the right way and when you actually ask one of the Sky people on the phone just how they can justify charging you agian for HD subscription even tho you are paying this same HD subscription they just say nothing and actually cut me off both times I asked this question!!!Angry

There in lies the problem as the TV's are about 40m apart and 3 joining wall between them. I did look into a CAT5 system but was quite expensive but am now thinking I would rather do that than have Sky take the P any more than they all ready do and charge me twice for the privilage of being able to watch HD in differant rooms!Angry

Its for reasons like that, that many people are now choosing BBC Freesat. HD tv without the charges or the hassles. OK Sky programming is better arguably, but you're paying a hell of a lot for it and Freesat is getting better over time.

I'm with you there. As soon as my multi-room subs dies in December, I'm going freesat for my 2nd box. TBH if it wasn't for the kids/american stuff (that my daughter and wife like) I'd be going freesat PVR on the main TV as well.

Even though Sky have reduced the price of the HD box, I refuse to pay £10 per month for the same content, with a slightly better quality.

very true - magic eyes only work on the RF output, which is very very SD...

Hi,

I mentioned this a while ago on here - I was told that because SKY HD was a premium service I had to pay twice. I told them that the movies and sport were also premium service and wsa told I still had to pay twice. I did the same as you - told them to keep it.

Cheers,

Re: Paying twice for Sky HD subscription!

Considering ordering a CAT5 system, which would cost me a fair bit of dosh but will be able to get HD on all sets in the house. Only downside is all TV's will be stuck to what is on the single HD box. But I am fed up with Sky attitude towards its customers!Angry
