Sky launch 3d television
What is the point?
Who will buy it?
When there is no content

I thought the circumstances called for a Haiku

Switched on today at 9.30, got my glasses from the hall drawer.......adjusted the nose piece.......set up the TV using viera tools etc.........then set the picture to dynamic to avoid the dimming on THX............then closed the blinds as there was flickering...........erm the golf was rained off.........put the glasses back in the hallway drawer so we dont lose them or the kids break them.......kept checking every hour to see if it was going yet.......didnt bother with the 3D though.......too much messing about.........

Yer, I'm not sure about Jiminez' pony tail wafting about in my front room, nor seeing Peter Alliss' jowels in all their glory.

Re: my early rise for 3d tv

The golf in 3D is rubbish........ BUT Monsters vs Aliens was surprisingly good ! After seeing some of the golf i didn't hold out much hope for the football, believing the computer generated picture with "enhanced" 3D effects, was the best i would see.

I was wrong, the football was good.... REALLY good.

Maybe it's the vast area and/or bad camera angles for the golf ? Maybe the distance of the of cameras from the "action" is too far away ? i can't pinpoint it but i don't believe it's worth the 3D coverage.

I did find that the darker the room, the better the 3D effect was plus brightening the picture improves the experience considerably.

Hi,

Awa' wi yer witchcraft in yer plasma TV.
O gie me yon specs, Celtic Manor to see,
Tae settle doon in ma favour'd settee,
America v Europe in bonnie 3D.

Weel-stack'd definition - 1080 is best,
Bles'd from the missus, the remote I possess'd,
Wi' baffies on feet, air swelled my chest,
An image to behold, my een'd be caress'd.

A shambles afore me, the rain t'was a-pourin,
Play's been scunnered, nae mare a-fourin,
Nae air in ma lungs, considerably boring,
She gie'd me a slap fer thunderously snoring.

Cheers,

Cofnchtr.

Re: my early rise for 3d tv

I have found that the Monsters v Aliens and Ice Age films were good, but on the documentary BUGS and the Dance, Dance, Dance extravaganza Stick out tongue, there is a lot of crosstalk on the picture.

Could be my sony setup, but other 3D seems fine.

I don't think I have ever considered myself to be 'mmm' - that might be seen as being overly narcissistic, surely...?
