Don't know if anyone else has spotted this, but I just saw an audio test card on the BBC HD preview channel. It lasted about 90 seconds and consisted of a single "Beat" tone and moving images to check how accurately your sound and picture are synched. Don't know if this is a regular thing, but it appeared about midday just before the first program of the day was about to start.

Intriguing! Haven't seen this myself, so will keep an eye open for it.

I've seen it myself. I reckon this is part of their BBC HD Preview only.  You wont see it on regular programming I suppose.
