Uh oh! We've got a problem...

Was panning it down outside with rain and hail a fee nights ago and was very windy. Since then I can't get any vertically polarised channels on my Humax HD freesat box. Signal strength on horizontally polarised channels is 85% with 100% quality. To me it sounds like a duff LNB rather than anything else (I think it's quite old as it's been here longer than us!).

Any thoughts?

Hang on a sec. Typical. It's just started working perfectly for the 1st time in 4 days. Haven't done anything to it so not sure what has gone on. Not rained for a bit though. Would still appreciate any thoughts/ comments.

Sounds like water ingress, either at the LNB connection or the cable itself (it photodegrades with age and becomes porous).

I would check that the LNB weather boots/covers/amalgamating tape are intact, and the condition of the cable and replace if neccessary, and asap, as you'd be surprised how quickly, and how much water can travel along the cable (through capillary action) and damage your tuner[s]

Thanks for the info there. I'll get the ladders out tomorrow morning and have a look. I think photodegradation is unlikely though as I live in Yorkshire and it's never sunny!
