I never before realised that you can't choose which BBC region to watch live on iPlayer on the internet.

Mrs Fubar is an ex-pat Scot who misses the Hogmanay programmes she used to watch north of the border.

I never gave a second thought that I wouldn't be able to live-stream BBC Scotland's programmes in England. (I assume you can if you live in Scotland?)

I even tried being smart and hiding my IP, but of course having done that, it wouldn't let me watch anything (live) at all.

Bizarrely, you can watch BBC Alba live! Seriously, how many people nationally are going to want to watch programmes in Gaelic on the BBC's live streaming service, compared to those who would want to watch 'normal' BBC Scotland or other BBC England regions.

I remember watching those dreadful programmes with my mum and dad forty years ago and I still bear the scars. Surely anything that avoids a rendition of Donald where's your trousers is to be commended

?
