Recently seen some 1080p broadcasts on BBC HD channel.
Absolutely stunning, best quality TV broadcasts I have ever seen.
A) really? And b) how do you know?
The best Ive ever seen was back in the days of the BBC HD trial. Still haven't seen anything better.

My TV info said 1080p. Easy.
Yes Bbc-hd does broardcast in 1080p they changed to a diffrent codec to allow this, and it does look fantastic.
Ah FreeviewHD only and not everything is progressive, I think.
Your right, not all progs. are 1080p but they are increasing the amount.
are they planning to go 1080p on freesat or sky?
As far as I know, it is Freeview only.
I thought Torchwood would be on in 1080p and indeed it was. It wasn't night and day better than 1080i on Sky, but it was an improvement. I didn't think there would be much difference, but I guess there could be other differences too, such as bitrate?
Thanks for highlighting this, chudleighpaul. I thought it was still in the testing phase, didn't realise full shows were being transmitted in 1080p
Have a look at this.
