Which is a good portable radio with strong FM reception?

Hi there,
I am looking for a portable radio for outdoor use. Must be able work from batteries and must have strong FM reception (nearest tower about 45-50 miles away). Size of radio is not important (it is not for travelling), can be mono (is that can better for speech intelligibly?), music is not important, digital station tuning is necessary. Maybe something from Pure? Evoke 1S or One? Maybe somebody can recommend something decent from own experience. Thanks.
