My car was in for servicing today and I was loaned a new Fiesta.

The radio was analogue FM/AM however on the screen was displayed the name of the record being played. I thought this was only possible on DAB.

Anyone know how long this feature has been available?

A very long time. (20 years?) It's called RDS

Indeed, although earlier versions of RDS didn't make so much use of the Radiotext function. More recent receivers do, however, and some broadcasters sometimes manage to run information concurrent with what's actually being transmitted (!).

Thanks for the replies, I had no idea that this was possible.

The info on BBC stations was spot on. Got my own car back now so I can no longer appreciate this techy wonder!
