Digital and analogue radio
Magnum Dynalab ST-2 Vertical, Omni-Directional, 1⁄2 Wave Antenna
Submitted by Back_from_Bose on Tue, 2 Apr 2013, 6:48pmTuned into my desired local BBC radio station 104.9fm the signal strength on my Linn Kudos tuner measures +/- 20 dBμV using a simple Vivanco dipole 'T' aerial. The sound is good/ok but with occasional crackle (I have experimented by turning off any and all electrical appliances and wifi to find/eliminate culprit of crackle but to no avail). I can get signals closer to 30dBμV on other local fm stations.
Denon TU-800L - possibly the best Denon tuner ever?
Submitted by dfa2124 on Mon, 1 Apr 2013, 9:48pmHas anyone else ever come across one of these tuners before? I picked one up at the beginning of the year via that well-known auction site. I have tried several tuners over the last few years and this Denon is, so far, the best digital-synthesised tuner I have ever used for its combination of sound quality and RF performance. To give you an idea, the sound quality is up there with my Yamaha T-85, and, if anything, possibly a touch better. The sound quality on a good broadcast is superb with space, clarity, depth and dynamics.

Freeview: Reappraisal
Submitted by plastic penguin on Wed, 20 Feb 2013, 1:59pmIt takes a boy to criticise anything in life but a man to admit that things have changed. Around 18 months ago I was fed-up with freeview 'commercial' stations: They sounded insipid and packed with sibilance.
Since TV switchover to digital these stations have insidiously improved. Now they are as good as standard FM from a tuner IMO. Unless you listen to secondary stations that have yet to latch onto digital - as I do - can't see any reason for the old traditional tuner. (Blimey, can't believe I'm saying this).
Adding Internet radio to a Yamaha RX-V571
Submitted by dhtmo on Tue, 12 Feb 2013, 12:04pmHello folks
Has anyone added a DAB device to their receiver? And what did they use?
I was looking at the Pure Jongw A140 for its streaming features. Are they any good?
Cheers
Dave
