Tested the QuteHD with some DSD files, CD rips and hires PCM today, didn't like the results at all. It sounded harsh and artificial, certainly not a good match with my MA RX6 speakers.

Did listen to the Resonessence Labs Invicta DAC, now DSD capable and that sounded fantastic through the same equipment, but £3.5K is way out of my reach!

My hopes are with the Mytek Stereo 192 DSD and Teac UD-501 now.

I was going to recommend the Resonessence Concero to you, since you mention price and outputting to speakers. It says that it uses the same digitla processing as the Invicta, but then I looked at the specs and it uses a different DAC (ES9023), so I don't quite see how they can claim that. Also of course you won't get DSD playback and all that jazz. Ahhh I love the Invicta so much! One day she shall be mine!!

You could also have a look at the Ayre QB-9 DSD

Too much I'm afraid, £1K budget.

The Teac UD-501 will hopefully be here soon, for sale in France now.
