Windows 8 Release Preview sounds much better than Windows 7. I don't know what Microsoft did to the audio stack, but the differences are clear. More focussed and detailed sound, and not in a subtle way. At least with my Kingrex UD-01 PRO that's what I experienced. I expect that Windows 8 will become a must have OS for audiophiles on Windows.

Unless you are using WASAPI (or similar), then it'll make no difference.

OK let me rephrase that. For the bits are not just bits people, Windows 8 sounds better than Windows 7 :)  Naturally your mileage will probably be device dependent. Everyone else stick with Windows 7. That would be my advice.

Windows has some major changes in the pipeline , some will upset alot of people, though from what i have seen i like the hole new look of windows and that its going to work cross platform with PC, Tablets and Phones and even game consoles.

I can hear no difference between XP and W7 when using J River set up for bit perfect playback. Is that hissing I can hear in the background? Wink

Sweet reply, +1 to that.  I guess they would be greased or, in some other way, lubricated.

Are we not the bigger fools in replying to this sort of thing?   Shock
