Synology with Airplay update

I would like to have all my iTunes music on a Synology DS (upgraded with Airplay firmware), so that I wont have to turn on my MacBook with iTunes to be able to listen to my music.

But how does it work?

I have an Airport Express connected to my stereo, but will that unit be able to see my music on the Synology and how will I control whats playing?

And will it work with ALAC (Apple losless) files?
