Synology NAS DS212 Airplay sound quality
Can anyone comment on the sound quality of the Airplay sent to an Airport Express from the Synology NAS compared to iTunes through a Mac? I am sure my iPhone does not sound anywhere as good as iTunes thorugh Airplay.
Also, is the DSAudio app for iOS good? Can I use this as an alternative to a media server like a Squeezebox or do I need to keep the MacBook on?
iTunes in a MacBook Pro vs iPhone, both into an Airport Express connected to a Caiman DAC... it's different... sounds compressed...
If the file format & bitrate is the same, it shouldn't matter whether the song is stored in an iPhone or a MacBook. Can you confirm the file format & the bitrate?
Yes... The exact same file, from the iPhone sounds much lower and a bit compressed. Theres more dynamics and air through iTunes. And a lot louder too...

Sound quality of the AirPlay?? It depends on the speakers where it's sent to, to start with. What are you comparing your iPhone with?
