does anyone know if you can use the squeezebox duet controller with the touch instead of using the provided plastic job

Yes,  I replaced the Squeezebox Receiver with a Touch and can control either via the touchscreen, Duet controller or basic IR controller.

cheers i think i will go down that road maybe get the controller s/h on ebay and then a dacmagic using a samsung story for storage and my note pad

I have both Touch and a Duet - the IR  RC is faster with line of sight to the Touch,  but the wi fi Duet controller can switch between any of the Squeezebox devices on your network - I am also running a Receiver and a Classic, and it is simple to switch between them with the duet.


 The Touch is a really neat bit of kit and a bargain at £220 (offer)

or you can use a iTouch or iPhone.

 

and I dont think the DacMagic is needed with the touch.  Mine is not.
