Sony TDM-NC1 - no don't laugh...help!
OK, so I bought it cheap on eBay, I have a Sony AV Receiver with the digital port this thing slots into, and thought....why not give it a go for streaming music from the PC.
So, I have configured the wireless network on the NC1, no problem, installed the M-Crew software (2.5), registered the NC1 with the software...so far so good.
Clearly the NC1 can see the network and the M-Crew server can see the NC1. My problem lies with getting the NC1 to see the 'server', it just doesn't find it. If I run Tversity on the PC, the NC1 picks it up no problem, so clearly connectivity isn't the issue, it just won't find the M-Crew server. I have enabled the numerous applications associated with M-Crew server in my security software (ZoneAlarms) but no joy.
Any ideas, anyone?
I'm aware that a firmware update has been available but cannot find it anywhere, not even on Sony's own website. I've also read that the instructions to install it require you to press buttons that don't exist!
Do you know where I can get the firmware?
Thanks - much appreciated!
I finally got it working, it needed v2.51 of the mcrew server software, not readily available from Sony's website but I eventually found it. The unit works pretty well, I also found that the server shows up on my BDPS570 (where TVersity and Win Media Player don't), though of course this will only stream audio, not video.
Right...just need to sort out some speakers to make this thing worth using!
Hi... know its an old thread, but i dont suppose anyone out there has a copy of this firmware available still? the link above is now dead
Hello! I'm looking for M-Crew 2.5.1.0 software. Don't find it anywhere. Please help.
Is there any other good media server working with TDM-NC1?
Paste download links.
THANKS!
Any upnp mediaserver such as XBMC, Tversity, PLEX etc should work
I can only suggest you try them and see which works best for you.
The NC-1 was always very slow for me at loading the music library you might want to consider a mediaplayer instead for around the £80 mark.
OK! Thanks for sugested media servers - I'll try them. But does anybody have M-Crew software 2.5.1? Please post dowload link. I want to try "original" too.
Anybody?
Is that not it, in AnotherJoe's post on Feb 29th, directly above your first post?
It's firmware I already have. I'm looking for M-Crew 2.5.1.0 software. Please help.

Are u running the latest firmware on the NC1 itself ? - 2.50A i think it is.
I never used mcrew with it - I use Tveristy so it can transcode any format that is not supported.
