Monitor brightness

Has anyone noticed an impact on sound quality when lowering the brightness of their computer monitor while playing music?

Probably getting influenced by the whole 'turn off the display on your CD player' debate but am sure that my PC sounds better when the display is very dim.

Could this be my imagination or is there any physics to support this theory? Only problem is changing tracks sometimes requires a torch.
