Not a record label plug but I thought this was worth sharing as it's not every day you get a Hi Res release from KB

Indeed. I'm torn between the high-res download or the double-album vinyl.....

I was impatient and pre-ordered the CD, listening to it right now, but may stray vinyl-wards too.

It arrived two days ago, but I've been too ill to listen up until now. It's mesmerising and beautiful. A balm for my almost recovered from flu state of health.

A well trodden debate but vinyl: cleaning; turning; storing, not for me.

Anyway I haven't got a deck and I sold all my records, so that's an end to that!!!!

Allegedly, the album was recorded using analogue. Techy-types report decent dynamic range (see below; can anyone 'translate'?). Perhaps the uncompressed 24/96 offers the best of both worlds?

"DR Peak RMS Duration Track
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
DR12 -3.56 dB -20.42 dB 9:47 01-Snowflake
DR13 -0.13 dB -18.55 dB 11:08 02-Lake Tahoe
DR11 -1.70 dB -18.16 dB 13:32 03-Misty
DR15 0.00 dB -17.85 dB 7:17 04-Wild Man
DR13 0.00 dB -17.92 dB 8:05 05-Snowed In At Wheeler Street
DR13 -2.10 dB -18.35 dB 8:31 06-50 Words for Snow
DR12 -4.00 dB -20.73 dB 6:54 07-Among Angels
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Number of tracks: 7
Official DR value: DR13

Samplerate: 96000 Hz
Channels: 2
Bits per sample: 24
Bitrate: 2271 kbps
Codec: FLAC"

You don't need to download it from HD Tracks, it's available with a long description of exactly how KB produces her tracks from the Fish People website (her own label).

Tastes differ, that's a good thing.... for me though I can't seem to work out who sounds the more happy... Kate or Adele ?
