Hey,

I have a great entertainment PC with a 5.1 soundcard. I am looking for a 5.1 Power amp only to feed the HDMI output through.

All I seem to be able to find are home theatre Receivers, which have completely unnecessary switching and volume control.

Does such a thing exist?

you will not find one. as the signal carried by the HDMI cable will need converting and then controling.

if you have 5.1 analouge outs use them.

Thanks...... showing my Hi tech ignorance!

The PC has a (small) built in Amp with surround sound outputs, but only Stereo Low level outputs..... or HDMI....

I guess the HDMI is the way to go. I reallly dont need the Tuner that seems to be standard in all the home theatre "Receivers"

(I know that's waht makes them Receivers!)

Can you reccomend a 5.1 Amp set up?

Just pretend it isn't there then, it's a minor feature these days and you'll be cutting out a huge number of very good amps if you refuse to have a tuner. It isn't worth worrying about. It's like refusing to buy a particular type of car because it has a clock in it.
