Advice Please!

l've just received my new usb dac, the HRT Music Stremer ll & l'm very pleased with it. Listening to Spotify it's really upgraded the pc listening experience.

Just a question on installation, if anyone has any idea. The instructions state that usb connection to the pc should be made while the pc is running & the streamer will install itself; which it did fine. The remaining instructions say to check, through the control panel/audio & sound devices audio tab, that the streamer is the default device, which it is. lt also recommends that, through the volume tab, the sliding volume control is placed at maximum however, the slider is greyed out with the slider on minimum. Went back to the pc sound card & the slider came back into operation (black)

Just want to get the best out of the streamer. Do you feel that this is an installation error or par for the course?

Operating system is Windows XP
