You could use an AEX but you would need Airfoil ($25) to send audio from Spotify to it

I don't use any mobile device so premium would be wasted on me by the sounds of it
I think Premium is still the only way to get a 320Kbps stream. £5 gets you 160K without adverts.
Main system: Mac Mini 2011 > HRT II+ DAC • Cyrus 2 & PSX • Cyrus tuner • MS 10i speakers [on loan]
Also cluttering-up the place: Thorens TD160 (no cart) • Marantz CD 63 mkII KI & PM66 KI • Technics SL-P777 • Nakamichi DR-1
You also mentioned your b/band is only 1mbps on the Roku thread, which suggests you're either at the end of very long or poor quality/degraded line and there for probably not very stable/reliable either.
So offline mode is probably worth the £10 a month alone
Premium(320kbs)is defanatley worth it if it is used to its potential,as i have said i dont have any mobile devices, but iv'e signed up for the free trial so will have a play for the next few weeks.
Love the idea of spotify tho

Thanks for the link. All this is well outside my comfort zone(i'm a put a disk in 'n press play kind a'guy).
Yes my broadband is terrible,bt have no plans(yet)of either upgrading the phone line or bringing cable down our street,so the offline feature is appealing.
GSB I'm taking a rough educated guess that you may also be interested to know that they've just (as of 17 June) added the full back catalogue of Pink Floyd to their reportoire, sourced from the 2011/12 remasters
Just downloaded the oppo driver to my laptop, plugged what i think is a usb cable into the 105....and nothing
lol I'm sure someone will be along shortly to help you with that. It's a bit out of my depth
I don't have the correct cable, have umpteen hdmi, optical even scart but only usb mini things,EDITED
You'll probably need to go into sound settings and change the playback device from your onboard audio to the oppo
Is that where it says to sync devices?
Not in Spotify, in your control panel.
Either right click on the volume/speaker icon on the task bar and select playback, or OTTOMH go into control panel>hardware and sound>playback devices
Do i select 'dont use this device'(laptop playback)?
Regardless of whether it s worth the money, Spotify and it's ilk will be the death of the music industry.
It legitimises the record labels ripping off their artists and puts quality control in the hands of internet entrepreneurs rather thanrecording engineers.
All IMHO, of course
....or conversely, it allows one to explore all sorts of new music, thus encouraging purchases.....which then helps the artist.
