Hello The What HIFI forum

Could anyone advise me:

I have a pair of pretty high end Grado GS 1000’s

I want to use them on my Mac, playing lossless music and some 24 bit.

I recently returned a “Graham Slee Bitzie USB headphone DAC” solely because I didn’t think it could give the Grado’s enough grunt or basically wouldn’t drive them loud enough.

I’m no headbanger but I think these cans need plenty of power to get the best from them.

So its needs to be a good headphone DAC that will have the power to drive these fabulous but quite demanding headphones.

Its getting a frustrating search so any help would be greatly appreciated

Regards

Jez

Grado's aren't demanding or difficult to drive, something like the m-dac is a good match for them.

So I've heard thay are not difficult to drive, Graham Slee said the same, but I returned his DAC because it didnt have the power to get the best out of them. No expert but I feel a USB powered device compaired to a mains powered DAC doesnt measure up.

I've followed the M-Dac reviews online for a while, Wish Id have gone for that. I think I need to demo it, along with a few more products.

Many thanks

NJC Audio make some very nice kit from what I've heard.

RE: More power

You could try one of these, mains powered with plenty of output:

+1 for the design ethos alone.
