Can I rip the audio off of this music DVD?
Hi all,
One of my favourite albums of all time is This Binary Universe by BT. I have the double album which has the CD and the 5.1 mixed DVD. It is a normal DVD, not DVD audio, but the 5.1 mix is incredible. I know my Apple TV can handle passthrough DTS to my Amp, so I want to get the AC3 audio off of the DVD without the video attached, and am having difficulty. I have Handbrake, but it wont give me the option to rip audio only.
I find that I never have time to sit down and watch the DVD (and to be fair, the short films are no where near as good as the music), so I just want the individual tracks in my iTunes library and streamable to my ATV.
Does anyone know of any software I can use? Preferably OS X based but I have a Windows partition on Hollie's Mac, so can be Windows if I have to
Hello Paul, maybe VLC would do it for you?
Thanks for the suggestions. VLC doesn't want to give me the AC3 file, it wants to transcribe it to something else. I tried exporting as a multichannel WAV but it only exported the default 2.0 channel. Streamclip looks interesting, in theory it should do what I want it to. I downloaded the beta that is mountain lion compatible, its asking me to install an MPEG2 component I already have in my library. Shall have another play later when I have more time, looks promising though
DVD Audio extractor could be another option for you Paul
DVD audio extractor has a 30 day free trial period. I used it following a similar request on here and it was perfect. Converted all my sons Tim Minchin dvd stuff into audio only.Multiple formats available.
