Hey so I've downloaded MAX on my mac to rip CD's with. Been told that it's better an itunes?

Just looking for some guidence on import settings. Flac is no use as the files need to work on my iPhone. File size isn't an issue, I just want the best quality. Even on the WAV bit theres a quite a few different settings!

Thanks

Ben

In all honesty, iTunes seems to work the best for me. It does what is needed for ripping, perfectly well.

I'd also make sure that it works with your OS. The software doesn't seem like it's been updated for three years.

Yes, I've used both Max, but in the main Rip, for ripping CDs. I've used the default ALAC settings. Once ripped I've then referenced them in iTunes.  I'm not sure that I've noticed the rips sounding any better than those ripped by iTunes, but I'm aiming for as good as I can get.

I use Max on Mountain Lion but only to rip to FLAC or transer a previously ripped file to FLAC, this is for the Vortexbox/Squeezbox combination when it doesn't recognise some of my more obscure purchases which the free software doen't recognise, for my ipods and iphone i still use iTunes at ALAC
