Worth an upgrade?

I currently have a Sony BDP-S570 which I use for Blurays (inc. the occasional 3D film), DVD'S & sometimes CD's & SACD'S.  I don't use any of the online stuff it offers.  I'm just not interested in these features.

I find the Sony a little noisy (whining noise when spinning some disks) and very, very occasionally it'll pause (with a blank screen) for a second or so during movie playback.  It does feel like a cheap unit, but there again it is a budget player! Because of these issues I'm tempted to replace it and give the Sony away to a family member.

I've a quite modest AV setup: Philips 46PFL9705, Onkyo TX-SR608 & B&W MT-25 speakers, but with decent cabling between them all.

Is it worth spending a bit more on a replacement?  Will I get much improvement in picture or sound considering the rest of my setup?  Could I get much better DVD upscaling? Or would I be better off just going for a similarly placed product from this years ranges?
