Why are all blu ray music discs live ?
Iron maiden's flight 666 sure is a belter, Tarja (Turrenen) act1 is probably the best music blu ray i have seen so far - pq & sound are amazing (awesome vocalist & band)- AC/DC live at donnington, AC/DC live at river plate all good stuff

I thought I forgot one! AC/DC Live at Donnington is brilliant!
One of my favourites too.
I've just got Neil Young's Psychedelic Pill on blu-ray, pcm stereo 24/192. Sounds ok but quite different when sent to hi-fi via rca. Thinking of getting a dac but looking at the manual for my sony s760 the digi out it appears to downgrade the signal. [48khz/16bit - outputs audio signals of 96khz sampling as 48khz/16 bit. or 96khz/24bit - outputs audio signals of 96khz sampling as 96khz/24bit. However the signals will be output as 48khz/16bit if the source is copy protected] Whats that all about? What is it sending via hdmi?
The Rolling Stones recent compilation Grrr! has a Blu Ray release.
Stereo only PCM, DTS-HD and Dolby True HD
Just ordered this one. i was going to buy at HMV and support my local shop, but £18.99, compared to £11.99 on Amazon ?
My money went online, and please don't say it's because of VAT - that would only account for a £2.50 difference
Just got Metallica Black Album on DVD AUDIO I just sat there with my mouth wide open enter the sandman has never sounded as good the bass was so deep and guitars coming from every speaker

Best music Blu-rays I've heard:
Neil Young's Archives Vol.1 - stunning but pricey. £200 for 10 Blu-rays. Not just music, but it's all I go back to once I've viewed the film and photo footage.
I'm quite disappointed with the SQ of the recent Zep Blu-ray. I think the CD sounds as good/bad. Shame as they sound on fantastic form.
Other higher-rez formats I've enjoyed:
1) Neil Young's studio albums of the last decade. Most seemed to come with a DVD-A disc too. They sound great. Prairie Wind in 24/96 sounds fantastic.
2) Likewise all the remastered Talking Heads' CDs from a few years back also contained a DVD-A of the album. They sound great. Personal favourites are True Stories and Speaking In Tongues.
3) King Crimson's Crimson King re-issue contains a 24bit hi-rez disc too and that sounds excellent.
4) American Mavericks - Michael Tilson Thomas/SFSO. Modern orchestral music on SACD. Wonderful sound, dynamic and ever so slightly unhinged music.
5) Steely Dan's Gaucho on DTS-CD. I bought this by mistake a few years ago. It wouldn't play in my PS3 but my Denon UD had no problems.
Sounds fantastic, then again it would sound half-decent on a mangled TDK C60 tape too. It's a great recording, if you like your music in ultra-arid, knowingly etoliated form.

Any other recommendations ?
Slash Made In Stoke Blu-ray is out of this world! Best I have heard! Iron Maiden Flight 666, Amy Winehouse and Keane.
Panasonic 50GT50, Pioneer Bdp-lx71, Pioneer Vsx-lx70, B&W FPM Series & B&W PV1.
