Sony S500ES picture quality.
I have a Sony S5000ES Bluray player.However the picture quality on Bluray discs is terrible,not as good as standard def.tv.I am using quality HDMI cabling.
What could be the problem?
Definitely some sort of problem there!
I use one myself, and find it's picture on a good Bluray is stunning - pin sharp. Have you set the output to 1080p? Which discs are you testing? There some iffy Blu's out there, so try anything from Pixar, or something like Tron. Which TV are you using? There are plenty of TV's out there that spoil Bluray's awesome picture quality.

All my separates are of the highest quality.Previously I was using a Denon Bluray Transport player and the picture was amazing.The Sony 5000ES is really bad!
Not familiar with the 500ES however as a Sony user have you checked all on the video outputs on the X Bar ensuring that 1080p 24f etc has been selected?
Can't believe it is not giving you a top notch picture...................?
