Sony Blu-Ray for SACD
I'd say there's a demand for it...perhaps I'm too stupid to understand what the risks and issues are.
Ideally though what you want is an area where new adverts automatically create locked threads that only the creator can edit, post and amend, where enquiries can only be sent via PM (and currently we don't have PMs at all), and where the thread self-deletes after say two weeks. I've seen all this done on forums that use normal bulletin-board software like phpBB or VBulletin, but don't ask me how.
It's perfectly feasible, but requires quite a lot of investment at our end as we discovered when we implemented private classifieds on one of our other sites, pistonheads.com, last year.
I can't argue with costs Andy tho' to my novice thoughts I would hope a very simple classified thread would be easy. I also think that a bouyant 2nd hand market would help new sales, allow some to invest more deeply and encourage our interest in the 'sport'. Bit late more me since I am broadly content. I rhink I would be happier negotiating with forumites rather than ebayites. Any member could buy but only members of more than 12 months membershkps could sell. To stop the site becoming hifiebay. It may even encourage local forumites to meet. Hey ho. Happy New Year
Strictly speaking we don't allow trading of any kind: we're looking at the possibility of introducing private classifieds if there's enough demand for it, but for now the House Rules prohibit trading of any kind, private or otherwise.
Well below is the reply I received from WHF on the very subject:

Hi MalcSection 11 is primarily aimed at members of the retail trade to stop them from advertising for ‘free’ on the website. If you have a particular item to sell personally (as a private individual) which is relevant to something another poster has asked about, we are relaxed about you linking to that. But we don’t encourage blatant trading.whathifi.com
Hi sizzers, thanks for that, although I must admit that's the first time I've seen that reply, so I can understand your confusion. I don't want to appear heavy-handed about this, so please don't feel you're being victimised! I guess if you have something to sell that's of interest to another reader then we'd be happy to pass that message on to them via email, but for now I'd like to keep the Forum itself free of trading.

Hi Andy,
i wasn't feeling victimized at all, just confused!!!
Sorry I did not mean to get anyone into trouble I was just asking the price to get an idea. Going forward the blu-ray dvd does seem the one for me, as my wife wants a dvd player as well, only issue I have to work out is do I need wifi or not.
