Sony BDP-S580 or panasonic dmp bd310

I am looking at my first blu ray player and noticed the sony 570 that won lots of awards last year.
Is the 580 better this year than its previous model?
Now the other model I have looked at is the panasonic 310 which is £60 more expensive, does the difference justify the £60? If so then how does this compare with the sony 780?
I hope someone can help the entertainment world is a minefield.

Hi Luvdubz.
I can't offer a comparison but can mention that I'm going to take my 310 and try to get a Sony (780 probably), due to it being noisy (in the sense of disk noise, rather than signal noise)
