Sony BDP S380 vs S350 Upgrade or downgrade ??

I have been a long time user of the S350 and have found the picture quality on BluRay playback excellent.Last year I got a S380, in order to acess Berlin Philharmoniker digital concert hall (Sony streaming service) and am convinced that the picture quality for BluRay playback was not as good as the S350.Has anybody else heard such reports and would moving to the S490 or S790 give me as good quality as the S350 for 2D BluRay playback ? I am not interested in 3D playback.
Which TV have you got? Your experience is very unusual.
