SONY BDP-S185 SOUND CUTTING IN AND OUT RANDOMLY

I'm now on my second unit of this model and the old sound glitch from the older Sony-BDP-S370 has reappeared only this time seemingly without an easy fix.  Like the majority of buyers who had that model I too am using a Sony Bravia TV (a KDL-26P2530) which although clearly not faulty is posing a compatiability problem.  I've tried the previous workarounds for that model (update the firmware/change audio to PCM etc etc) but nothing seems to work.  I'm not updating my TV for financial reasons and don't see why I should; it works fine with a PS3 and is obviously fully HDMI friendly.  I can and probably will have to return it to Amazon for a refund as I've found Sony themselves to be little better than useless.  However my concern is if I buy another Sony model (the Sony S380 possibly) will the same glitch likely occur?  Any sensible help/advice would be greatly appreciated.
