Pioneer BDP-430 firmware upgrade finally available, but not the update I'm after...
Since buying the Pioneer BDP-430, I have been eagerly awaiting a firmware upgrade to enable the device to stream content over my home network. I have been checking for updates on a weekly basis (at least) and was delighted to see a firmware upgrade finally available (released 1/7/11 apparently).
After the upgrade, I check to see what's changed, and unfortunately, it seems like not much at all... Onto the Pioneer website and there is the following notice:
Playback of contents via LAN YouTube Playback
The firmware update enabling this feature is planned for mid August 2011. We will announce the date of availability on our website as soon as the schedule is confirmed.
We have encountered some technical issues which unfortunately make it impossible to confirm a precise firmware update timing at this moment. We will announce the firmware release schedule on our website as soon as it is confirmed. We apologize for the inconvenience caused and would like to ask for your kind understanding regarding this matter.
Oh well, Will just have to wait a bit longer before I can make full use of the player...
I would have hoped the same to be honest. If the firmware hasn't been sorted by the time the new range of Pioneer players come out, I will use it as a reason for an exchange.
Hi,
The firmware update you refer to has been posted on the Pioneer www site and is available via the player.
I have it installed, I can see my PC, folders and music, but no file plays...
Cheers.
