Panasonic BDT500 or Oppo 93 for DVDs and Blu Ray connected with Yamaha RX-A810 AV Receiver, or Cheaper solution?
any Blu-ray player capable of outputting 1080p24 should be identical to any other when using the HDMI output for 3D or 1080p Playback.
overall the BDP-93EU’s performance with both NTSC and PAL content was of reference quality.
Overall we liked the BDT500s scaling engine – Excellent score
So on picture quality the Oppo and Panasonic give the same results for HD but the Oppo rates as reference and the Panasonic as excellent for SD
The audio performance of the BDT500 over HDMI sounded identical to both the BDT320 and the BDT220, which is to be expected. So unless you want to take advantage of the dual HDMI outputs or the 7.1-channel analogue outputs, you might as well go for one of the cheaper models to deliver audio over HDMI.
If using HDMI to connect to an AV Receiver would it be sufficient to go for a budget bluray player and apart from the upscaling of Oppo is there any advantage to be gained?
In looking at a budget for Blu ray player and AV receiver should the balance be towards cheaper blu ray player BDT 120 / BDT 220 and more expensive AV receiver?
