Marantz UD7006 versus PS3
Just thought I would share the following. Have been using my PS3 slim as my main blu ray player for a couple of years and always wondered just how good it is, and was it worth upgrading?
Booked a demo at superfi Manchester last Friday to see how it compared to the Marantz UD5005 & UD7006, I actually took my ps3 in to check it out, along with the wife!
Picture wise, blu ray, not much difference ie v.good, between ps3 and ud5005, but the 7006 did improve the picture. Most noticible difference was the sound, the ud7006 marked improvement on both.
It was a risk taking the wife, but it paid off since she fully backed the ud7006.
Best of all is it is over £200 off list.
Have set it up at home and can report it's cd capabilies are equally as impressive - I don't normally bother with cd's (use my nas) but they sound stunning

You say that the picture quality between the UD5005 and the PS3 was marginal but what about the sound...?

I made the same decision, I trialled the Marantz UD7006 and thought it a superb player.
The start up time is a bit slower say 15 seconds but the load times are reasonably fast with Blu Rays and DVDs - it upscales DVDs to a very good standard. Audio quality is also very good
