I just seen the new Pioneer BDP-150 and thought I like the look of that. However on further research of spec I noticed the new simple to use remote it now sports. It just so happens this player would have replaced my old Toshba BDX3200 player which is where I noticed similarities. The obvious one is the remote is near identical with a few keys labelled differently and obviously one has the pioneer badge on it (model RC-2425) and the other with Toshiba (Se-R0377). This remote was also used on the Toshiba BDX1100, 2100, 3100 and 1200. Also some of the screens have basic similarities (how rthe menu's operate)

Both units I read are built in China. So my question, is this all just coincidence or is this Pioneer is basically a Toshiba with an exspensive looking case?

I'm interested in any views over this subject.

Thanks

I expect, especially at the budget end that manufacturers just buy remotes in.

Still, makes a change from being accused of being a re-badged Sharp...
